Thunder from Up Under...Part. 1

The emergence story from Navajo mythology talks about people and animals climbing a root that pierced the sky of the third world. The ever mischievous Coyote had stolen the Water Monsters' baby which resulted in the Water Monster flooding the world. Even though the baby was returned it was too late, the world was flooded and the inhabitants had only one way to escape. It was climbing up the root that went through the sky which led out of the ground onto the fourth world.

The Hopi have a story similar to that one of the Navajo and they believe that they heard a thundering sound coming from the sky before they climbed out of the third world into the fourth. They tell that the knocking got louder and louder as they neared the opening of the fourth world. They climbed and climbed until they saw they had reached the end and they peeked out to see that they were actually coming out of the ground also, but when they peeked out they saw a man with a stick digging holes. The loud thundering noise was coming from this man pounding his digging stick into the ground planting corn for the season for food.

Kiva's are ceremonial pits located in the earth, representing being inside the womb of our Mother Earth. Some Kiva's are round while others are square, but the most popular nowadays are the square shaped. The Hopi tribe align their Kiva's ever so carefully and with precise accuracy with the stars in the sky. Most notably with the Orion star system, specifically Orion's belt.

This is Orion's belt system. These three stars represent the belt of the warrior known as Orion. These three stars have a huge significance in all indigenous cultures around world. Ancient civilizations, such as the Egyptians built monuments to this (The Pyramids of Giza), so did the Mayan's, and even the Ancient Sumerians told stories of their Gods coming down from the sky from Orion's belt.

And the Hopi are not excluded from this.

A man by the name of Gary A. David wrote a book called the Orion Zone years ago about his revelation of towns and ancient cities located in the Southwest desert, up and around the Hopi and Navajo reservation. He said he was driving one night and all of a sudden it dawned on him that these places were lined up specifically to reflect the Orion Star Constellation. Well that's the short version but he said he found the connection, but he was only half right.

Yes, he was correct about their being a direct connection these ancients places had with the Orion constellation, but he was wrong to say that he discovered it. The tribes that lived in that area already knew about the connection with the stars. He just revealed something that some of us were lucky enough to hear through storytelling as children and so on.

This map shows the connections that Mr. David made with the stories he was made aware when he visited the Hopi ceremonial dances in Arizona.

As you can see that Third Mesa, Second Mesa, and First Mesa represent Orion's belt. A planning of this magnitude could only be foreseen and planned out by people who could measure and see it from up above also, just like the famous Nazca Lines of Peru. If you follow the arrow of Orion you will see that it ends up at the Sipapu, which is located in the Grand Canyon and that is where the Hopi say they emerged from.

End of Part. 1......
